As the world eagerly anticipates the 2024 Paris Olympics, organizers have announced a major change from the previous Summer Games in Tokyo. The intimacy ban, which was put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, will no longer be enforced during the upcoming event.

Athletes at the Tokyo Games were prohibited from engaging in close contact, including hugs, handshakes, singing, and chanting. However, the Paris Olympics will see a return to normalcy, with athletes free to interact as they please.

One particularly eye-catching detail is the staggering number of condoms that will be supplied in the Olympic village – a whopping 300,000 condoms will be available for the roughly 14,250 people expected to reside there, including 9,000 athletes. This is a significant increase from the 150,000 condoms distributed at the Tokyo Olympics, despite the intimacy rules in place.

The Paris Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 26 through Aug. 11, 2024, and will be held in the Olympic village located just four miles north of the city center. While the village will feature amenities such as a sports bar or “Village Club,” alcohol will not be served.
